Our A-Pillar Grab Handles provide a secure handhold to help with entry and exit from any vehicle. The rubberised handle provides a comfortable grip, and secure fixings give you the confidence to apply as much force as you need for your transfer. Moreover, these are compatible with curtain airbags and retain the safe function of these. Please see our product sheet below for more information.
We can fit grab handles to other parts of the vehicle but generally it is not possible to fit above the doors. Please enquire with our office (01332 863742) if you need a grab handle fitting somewhere other than the A-Pillar.
Types of Car Grab Handle
There are two main types of car grab handle available. Fixed handles bolt directly to the door frame and provide a permanent, solid handhold that you can rely on every time you get in or out. Portable handles clip onto the metal door striker and can be moved between vehicles, making them a flexible option if you use more than one car. Both types give you something firm to push against or pull from, and both can be supplied and fitted by our Motability accredited engineers at Des Gosling Mobility.
Grab handles are particularly useful for people who find getting in and out of a vehicle difficult. This includes those with reduced grip strength, balance issues, joint pain, or anyone who struggles to push up from a low seat. Having a fixed point to hold gives you greater confidence and control during the transfer, and reduces the strain on other joints. Many customers with conditions such as arthritis, MS, or stroke-related weakness find that a simple grab handle makes a significant difference to their daily independence.
Before fitting, one of our engineers will visit you at home and assess your vehicle and your individual needs. We check the car door, the striker position, and the best grip angle for you personally. This ensures the handle is fitted in exactly the right position and that you feel confident using it straight away. The assessment and fitting can often be completed in a single visit to your driveway, with no need to bring the vehicle to our workshop.

These Grab Handles are attached to the A-Pillar of the vehicle in a safe manner without interfering with Airbags. They provide a sturdy anchor point to aid whilst transferring into the vehicle.
